Colorful Fridays .....Wedge Tailed Green Pigeon.

Peering through my binoculars I spotted a green pigeon having its morning snack. It is found mainly in the Himalayas from the foothills to about 2500m .The pigeons are frugivorous. They can be spotted on fruit laden branches trying to reach to the juiciest of all the berries .

As the name suggests it has a wedge shaped green tail  with a yellowish green head and breast . The male has a maroon patch on the upper wing which is lacking  in female bird .

This pigeon has a sweet and a melodious song which is audible from far and are unmistakable .

Happy Birding
Have a colorful weekend .
