Birding in the lower Himalayas......

This is a journey that catapults you from teeming bustle of tech metropolis to the mountain tops, plain fresh air and  chirping of birds all around . It is my first day of birding and i leave behind the thoughts of my daily chores as we climb into the blue green vastness of Sattal and Pangot .... situated on the foothills of Himalayas with hordes of birds  from tits,  nuthatches,magpies, jays to woodpeckers the list could go endless.

It took a few cups of tea to wake me up before the break of dawn ...started the walk down the hill where we spotted a small stream of water flowing ....there were birds just dropping by and enjoying

The morning was spent exploring different forest areas......We were famished and decided to take a break by a gurgling stream.

lesser yellow nape woodpecker obliged me with a beautiful click.... i really admired the riot of colors .

The weather took a turn and it began to pour ......this was the end of my birding in Sattal for day 1.
